The Nancy Ellen Crooks Foundation is committed to perpetuating Nancy's devotion to supporting, implementing and developing self-sustaining projects that hold the possibility of improving the lives of women and children in Africa.
Founded in 2009, our organization relies solely on the generosity of our donors to realize our goals - we are not affiliated with any religious or political entity or institution. The Nancy Ellen Crooks Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of ten professionals from four different continents - each with a unique background and each a dear friend of Nancy Crooks. It is out of their friendship and love for Nancy that each board member has volunteered their skills, time, and efforts to see Nancy's hopes and dreams realized.
Our foundation was officially launched at the "Celebration of the Life of Nancy Crooks" service held at Nancy and Howard’s home in Nairobi, Kenya on March 13, 2010. Click here to view the video of our launching. At present, we maintain a presence in both the United States and Kenya. In the United States, our foundation is a sponsored project of Lift Up Africa, a registered USA-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In Kenya, we are officially registered as a non-profit organization. The projects that the Nancy Ellen Crooks Foundation are currently working on fall into two categories - solar cooking and education. We chose these two areas of concern as these were most dear to Nancy Crooks.
At this time, the projects we support are based in Kenya (which is where Nancy resided for more than 40 years and where she influenced countless lives of those less fortunate than herself.). However, as our foundation grows, we look forward to extending our support to neighboring countries. To learn more about the projects we are working on, please visit Our Projects webpage. |
